Privacy PolicyPaolo joined Equinox AIFM in 2019 as Portfolio Management Officer.
Paolo has nine years of job experience in the Financial Services and in the Fund industry in Luxembourg. Prior to joining Equinox AIFM, Paolo worked in the Operations department of NN Investment Partners. Prior to that, Paolo worked in the Transfer Agency department of IFDS, EFS and RBC and in the Accounting department of UBS.
Paolo holds a Master of Science in Finance and Risk Management from Università degli Studi di Parma (Italy) and a Master of Science in International Business from University of Dundee (Scotland). In 2010 he moved to Luxembourg where he earned a Master diploma in International Finance, Audit & Control.
Efisio joined Equinox AIFM in 2018 as Conducting Officer – Finance & Valuation.
Efisio has almost ten years of job experience in Private Equity and Alternative Investments industry in Luxembourg, and he has been serving as manager and as member of the board of directors of some Luxembourg entities for the last years. Prior to joining Equinox AIFM, Efisio led the activities and the operations of the Luxembourg investment vehicles advised by Motion Equity Partners. Prior to that, Efisio worked at IPES and TMF-Group, which are leading providers of outsourced services to Private Equity and Alternative Investments.
Efisio holds a Bachelor and a Master of Science degree in management and business administration from Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi: he graduated cum laude in December 2008. During his studies he further joined an exchange program at Fundação Getulio Vargas in São Paulo, Brazil, and an exchange program at Indian Institute of Management Kozikhode in Kerala, India. In 2009 he moved to Luxembourg where he earned a Master diploma in Private Equity and Investment Funds.
Dominique Marchal has more than 10 years experience in risk management and macroeconomic analysis, working in the fund industry, commercial banks and in the Eurosystem of central banks.
He was Head of Assets and Liabilities Management for a subsidiary of the French Groupe des Caisses d’Epargne, then Head of UCITS III risk management solutions at CACEIS Bank, before joining the Banque Centrale du Luxembourg, in charge of Credit Risk analysis.
Dominique Marchal has been in charge of several projects and has developed expertise in a wide range of key risk management areas, from market, credit, liquidity and operational risk to performance analysis and ALM, in both the investment funds and the banking industry.
He graduated as statistician-economist from the ENSAE, holds a Master from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Strasbourg, and is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).
Giorgio joined Equinox in 2006, and acts as General Counsel, coordinating the activities of the firm’s service providers including tax advisors, legal advisors, auditors and the depository bank. Prior to joining Equinox, Giorgio worked in the financial services departments at law firms Roger & Well’s in London, and Studio Legale Carnelutti and Freshfields, Bruckhaus and Deringer in Milan.
Giorgio holds a Law degree from University Statale degli Studi di Milano.
Elio Catania, graduated in Electrotechnical Engineering at the ‘La Sapienza’ University in Rome, had gained his Master’s Degree of Management Science at the ‘Sloan Fellow School’ of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston. He has spent most of his management career in IBM where he reached Top Management positions as President of IBM Latin America, Southern Europe and Italy and Member of the Worldwide Management Council. He has been Chairman and CEO of Ferrovie dello Stato, Chairman and Managing Director of the ATM Group Milan Transport Company and Deputy Chairman of Alitalia C.A.I. S.p.A.. He served as Board Member of BNL, of Telecom Italia, and Intesa Sanpaolo.
From April 1 2014 he is Chairman of Confindustria Digitale , and board member in several listed companies.
He is Member of the board of Confindustria, of Assonime, Member of the Executive Committee of the Council for the United States and Italy, and Member of the Board of Directors of Fondazione Asphi Onlus.
He is currently the Chairman of Quid Informatica
He has been appointed as Cavaliere del Lavoro of the Republic of Italy.
Stefano di Martino joined Equinox in October 2018 as an Internal Operating Professional.
Stefano spent his career in strategy consulting, private equity, sporting good industry, footwear and apparel companies. Stefano owns a consulting firm focusing on M&A, MBO, specialized on sporting good, footwear and apparel market. Prior of his consultancy role, he served as a global senior leader for Nike inc in the Europe and USA, President and CEO Head, Tyrolia and Mares in Italy, CEO of Fila in Milan, London, senior consultant Cerberus Capital Management inc NYC, President and CEO for Levi’s no jeans, licensing, footwear and accessories in San Francisco and recently as the President Geographies, Omni-Channel and Commercial operation for G-Star BV in Amsterdam.
Stefano holds a management MBA from INSEAD Paris.
Maurizio Cossalter joined Equinox in 2017 as an Internal Operating Professional.
He currently owns professional assignments as a Board member in: Realmargi Srl, Manucor and Saturnia Country Club. In his career as a manager he has been President and CEO of Manuli Stretch Group and CEO of Terme di Saturnia.
He graduated cum laude in Economy from “Università degli Studi La Sapienza di Roma”
Romeo Ruffini joined Equinox in 2014. Romeo graduated in 2014 in Economics and Finance at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan and spent a year abroad as an exchange student at Regent’s University in London following courses in banking and finance. Furthermore, Romeo attended specialization courses at Università Bocconi in financial and strategic analysis and Credit Suisse Young Investor Programme (YIP). Romeo is a member of the Young Investor Organization (YIO) promoted by Credit Suisse.
At Equinox Romeo has worked on Manifattura Valcismon.
Massimiliano joined Equinox in 2002 as an Investment Manager. Prior to joining Equinox, Massimiliano worked at Euromobiliare Corporate Financial, an Italian M&A boutique focused on luxury goods and food and beverage. He began his career at PWC as an auditor and before joining Belgian chemical group Ravago as a financial controller.
At Equinox, Massimilano has led and worked on the following transactions: Moby Group, Church Group, Intercos Group, Esaote Group, Air Four, Adler Modemarkte and Manifattura Valcismon.
Massimiliano holds a degree in Economics and Corporate Finance from the Catholic University of Milan.
Giorgio joined Equinox in 2002, and has led deal execution and portfolio management for the past 16 years. Prior to joining Equinox, Giorgio worked at Interbanca in Milan; Borsaconsult, the financial brokerage firm in Italy; and business consultancy, Raffaele Cercola & Partners. He was also a board member of Oltreventure, the Italian social venture capital firm.
Giorgio has led and worked on several transactions whilst at Equinox, including: Fisia Italimpianti, Citterio, Manuli Film, Hopa, Sorin, Alitalia and Adler Modemarkte.
Giorgio holds a degree in Economics and Corporate Finance from the Federico II University of Naples.
Angelo joined Equinox in 2015, and has spent his career in private equity, finance and strategy consultancy. Angelo has served as CEO and on the board member of many Italian companies, covering industries including automotive components, steel manufacturing, marketing services and digital. Prior to joining Equinox, Angelo served as executive manager in two Italian financial institutions: as Managing Director at HOPA and as Investment Director at the Mittel Group (listed on the Italian Stock Exchange). Through these roles, Angelo served as CEO for various subsidiaries and affiliates with a strong emphasis on managing reorganization processes. Most recently, he managed the reorganization of Fashion District Group, sold by Mittel to Blackstone in 2014.
Angelo holds a degree in Business Administration from the Universita degli Studi di Brescia.
Alessandro began his career at Bank of America Capital Partners, the Pan-European private equity fund backed by BOA. In 2002, he joined Equinox as an Analyst, where he has worked for the past 16 years; during this time, he completed his Master’s degree and briefly joined the Australian asset manager Babcock & Brown.
At Equinox, Alessandro has been closely involved in Citterio Finanziaria, Esaote, Manuli Film and Bioenergie. He also leads Equinox’s investor relations and fund reporting functions.
Alessandro holds an MSc in Finance from the London Business School and a degree in Banking and Finance from the Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan.
About a 31-year career, Andrea Bovone has built up significant experience both leading transactions and managing businesses. Andrea began his career at Chase Manhattan Bank in the US, before joining JPMorgan Milan; from 1989-2001, he was a Director at Intek, an industrial conglomerate, where he was responsible for the management of a number of businesses and assets in Italy and internationally, including leading the turnaround of Bertram Yachts and Sediver, a listed company in France.
Andrea joined Equinox at its inception in 2001, having worked with Salvatore Mancuso since 1995. At Equinox, Andrea has worked directly with: Fisia Italimpianti, Esaote, Bioenergie, Intercos, Citterio Finanziaria, Church Holding, Manuli Film and Sorin.
Andrea holds an Economics degree from Genoa University, and an e-business Masters from Politecnico di Milano.
Alberto Rossetti has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Equinox AIFM in February 2018.
He has a wide international experience in the Banking and Financial Services Industry and over the years was entrusted of assignments in PRELIOS SGR (chairman of the Board and of the Board’s Committees), Bank of Austria’s ATF Bank JSC (vice-chairman of the Supervisory Board and member of Control Committee), UBAE Arab Italian Bank (vice-chairman of the Board and chairman of Risk & Control Committee), Banque Centrale Populaire (director and chairman of the Risk Committee), SAHAM Assurance (director and member of Risk & Control Committee), Capitalia Banking Group (director, chairman Internal Control Committee, member of Governance Committee), Banca di Roma (director Executive Board), FINECO Vita (director), FINREME (director). As general manager or executive director he held posts at ABN AMRO SIM, ABN AMRO Corporate Finance Italia and other financial institutions in London and in Italy. In the industrial sector he has served as director of TRENITALIA spa, director of TAV-Italy’s High Speed Train project company and chairman of the Supervisory Body of a cement group.
A Fulbright Scholar, he holds an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business and graduated summa cum laude from University of Rome La Sapienza. He is Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and has been professor of History of Economic Thought at Pontificia Universitas Gregoriana, member of the Royal Institute of International Affairs/Chatham House, member of AIAF, Italy’s Financial Analysts Society. Upon joint proposal of President Sandro Pertini and Prime Minister Bettino Craxi he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
Thierry Lesage is Partner at the Luxembourg law firm Arendt & Medernach focusing on national and international tax issues. He is a member of Luxembourg Bar, of the American Bar Association (ABA) and of the International Bar Association (IBA).
Previously he worked as a tax manager with one of the Big Four firms and as head of the corporate tax department of a Luxembourg-based bank.
Maurice Hazan is an entrepreneur with years of experience in the information technology, consulting, communications and commodities industries. Over the years, he has successfully created and managed many start-ups in high-tech industries in markets with notable growth rates. Active in nonprofits, he is a member of the board of the Ecole Centrale De Paris Alumni Association.
He graduated in Engineering at the Ecole Centrale de Paris.
Federico Franzina is a Chartered Accountant in Italy, Expert Comptable in Luxembourg and Trust Accountant in Switzerland. Since 2005 he has been founder and Managing Partner of YTACS, Luxembourg company providing consulting services (fiscal, corporate and cross border matters).
Previously a Partner of TS Tax Advisors of Lugano from 2002 to 2005 and from 1991 to 2002 Mr. Franzina worked in Luxembourg at the Sociétè Europeénne de Banque (Intesa San Paolo Group) as Director and Member of the Comité de Direction heading the Department of Financial Engineering.
Manager with many years of experience in the banking and finance field, Giovanni Pavese began his career with Banca Popolare Commercio Industria, where he was appointed Vice General Manager, then becoming General Manager of Akros Finanziaria and afterwards its Chairman; in 1997 Mr. Pavese became CEO of Bocconi University until 2007. He also served as Chairman at Meliorbanca Private Bank, Arca Impresa Gestioni SGR and as Deputy Chairman at Sorin SpA (listed on the Italian Stock Exchange).
Currently he is Director of the Alumni Association of Bocconi University and Director of Sacra Famiglia.
Mario Mazzoleni joined Equinox Advisory Board in 2017.
He is a University Professor currently responsible for the strategies course and coordinator of the teaching program for the Master in Small-Medium size companies “Università&Impresa” (University&Business) at the University of Brescia.
Since 1988 he is a researcher at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Brescia. From 1992- 2004 he was Director of the MBA courses at the SDA Bocconi.
He graduated in Business Economics at Bocconi University in Milan in 1980-81 with a major in Economy of Public Administration.
Lucio Stanca, spent most of his management career in IBM where he reached Top Management positions (Chairman and CEO of IBM Italy, Corporate Vice President of the group, chairman and COO of IBM EMEA…etc.). He has covered the role of board member in several private and public companies (PArtnerRe, IMD Foundation Losanne. Fila. Italtel…etc). He has been a member of the Italian Parliament and between 2001 and 2006 he was the Minister of Technology.
Stéphane Badey is a Partner at Arendt Regulatory Consulting.
Stéphane started his career in 1998 and acquired extensive experience regulatory and compliance matters in the fund management industry while working in the consulting practice of a Big Four company and as Director Compliance Europe for a leading asset servicing bank.
He has specialised on corporate compliance matters, data protection and anti-money laundering regulations and he is an active member of the ALFI working group on AML/KYC.
Stéphane holds a master degree in Private Law from the University of Dijon and a DEA in comparative Law from the same university. He also holds a Diploma in Legal Studies from the University of Manchester. Stéphane completed the Cours Complémentaires de Droit Luxembourgeois.
Salvatore Mancuso has more than 40 years of professional experience in Italian and International business. He founded Equinox in 2001, bringing to bear his vast experience successfully managing and investing in businesses. Salvatore has held positions as Director, Chairman or CEO in a variety of major Italian conglomerates and their subsidiaries. In addition, he was a member of the board of numerous prestigious Italian banks namely Unicredit, Banca di Roma and Banco di Sicilia. He was Deputy Chairman of Alitalia as well as a board member of Enel.
Salvatore Mancuso holds a Degree honoris causa in General Management (ISIDA Institute of Palermo) and a Degree honoris causa in Business (American University of Rome).
He is the President of the Camera di Commercio Italo-Lussemburghese and the President of Polcevara (Holding company of the Erg Group). Moreover he holds several roles as a President and Administrator in Banks, Investment funds and companies.
He has been General Manager first and then CEO of Telecom Italia Finance (Telecom Italia Group) for 20 years.
He holds a Degree in Economics from the University La Sapienza Rome and a degree in Political Sciences at University La Sapienza Rome.
